The Cambridge-based band Hamfatter have been tipped as the "next big thing" thanks to TV show Dragon's Den.

The indie band performed their latest single The Girl I Love in front of the panel of for one-minute, before making a two-minute business pitch for £75,000 to produce their own album.

Their performance impressed "Dragon" Peter Jones so much that he offered them financial backing, in return Mr Jones will get a 30 per cent cut of the band's royalties.

Although Mr Jones' offer was less than a big record label deal, the band will have total control over how their songs are recorded and produced.

Lead singer Eoin O'Mahony said: "No one else will be able to follow this exact route again but I don't see any reason why more entrepreneurs won't get involved like this if we are successful."
