Can niche ceramics save the potteries?

A new arts festival dedicated to contemporary ceramics launched this week in Stoke-on-Trent, home of the British pottery industry.

Exhibiting a cross-section of work from more traditional tableware to conceptual pieces, organisers hope the British Ceramics Biennial will revive interest in this traditional craft and help regenerate the old pottery towns.
