Russian presidents past and present praise author Alexander Solzhenitsyn, whose death was announced last night.
Russia's President Medvedev and the last Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, are among those who have paid tribute to Alexander Solzhenitsyn following his death at the age of 89.
The Russian author and dissident became a symbol of intellectual resistance to Communist rule.
Exiled to the west, he returned to Russia after the fall of communism.
