BBC publishes top bosses’ salaries

The BBC today published detailed breakdowns of the salaries and business expenses of more than 100 of its senior managers.
The corporation’s chief operating officer, Caroline Thomson, said: "Today’s quarterly disclosure is a significant move for the BBC in our continued commitment to achieving ever greater openness and transparency to the public who may for the BBC."
Today's figures show that BBC Creative Director Alan Yentob claimed £3,211.70 for a return flight to New York in June.
And Radio 1 Controller Andy Parfitt claimed nearly £550 for equipment for an ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Comic Relief.
Shadow culture secretary Jeremy Hunt welcomed the publication of today's figures, but added: "We must see a full breakdown of what the BBC pays their celebrity talent… full transparency is a must."
Ms Thomson promised today that the BBC would publish precise details of the amount spent on talent early next year.
In total, the salaries and expenses of 107 staff have been posted online.
They are split into nine groups: the Director-General's office and BBC direction group; journalism; audio & music; vision; future media & technology; marketing, communications and audiences; finance & business; operations group and people.
It is revealed Director-General Mark Thompson has a salary of £664,000 and his deputy Mark Byford is paid £471,000.
Most of the 107 people on the list are paid salaries of more than £100,000 and a significant number earn over £200,000.
