Bassey is forever as she returns to the charts
Updated on 16 November 2009
Shirley Bassey, who has re-entered the charts this week at the age of 72, joins a growing list of pop stars enjoying popularity beyond their retirement age.

While younger fans download music from stars of their generation for free, older listeners are keeping the golden oldies in the spotlight, buying CDs in supermarkets and high street stores.
Barbra Streisand, 67, has recently enjoyed renewed popularity after her 63rd album climbed to the top spot on the UK charts last month.
Separately, Vera Lynn, who is 92, became the oldest living artist to top the album chart in the UK with her greatest hits album in September.
She knocked Arctic Monkeys off the top spot and outsold Jamie T.
