The British born author Arthur C Clarke has died, at the age of 90, in his adopted home of Sri Lanka.

He liked to think his work was more about science fact, than science fiction.

Most famous for his work on the groundbreaking film '2001: a Space Odyssey', the writer who trained as a physicist and mathematician also made scores of predictions.

His most successful was that one day communications would one day be transmitted by orbiting satellites.
