MoD "frustrates" war artist
Updated on 27 February 2007
Steve McQueen says the MoD has frustrated his efforts to create an image of the Iraq conflict.
He was commissioned by the Imperial War Museum to create an image of the Iraq conflict, and he says the Ministry of Defence has done its utmost to frustrate him.
Turner Prize-winning artist Steve McQueen contacted the families of servicemen and women who have died in Iraq, and they provided photographs.
McQueen has used them to create 98 portraits - out of 132 - and has incorporated them in a series of postage stamps.
His work has now gone on display at the Manchester International Festival.
