Lucian Freud: the early years

Updated on 14 October 2008

By Nicholas Glass

A new exhibition of early paintings by Lucian Freud gives a rare glimpse of one of the world's leading artists at work.

Curated by his long time assistant and model, David Dawson, it focuses on the painter's formative style, and includes photographs by Dawson of the artist and his sitters.

The exhibition, at the Hazlitt Gallery in London, runs until December.
