Interview: Dennis Lehane, author of Mystic River

Dennis Lehane was born and raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts before moving to Boston. He has written eight novels, A Drink Before the War, Darkness, Take My Hand, Sacred, Gone Baby Gone, Prayers for Rain, Mystic River, Shutter Island and The Given Day.

Two years after it was finished, Mystic River was made into a film, with both Sean Penn and Tim Robbins winning Oscars in 2004 for their performances, and the film was also nominated for the Best Picture award.

Gone Baby Gone was also converted for the big screen in 2007 and directed by Ben Affleck.

Lehane now teaches at Eckerd College in St. Petersberg, Florida and has also joined the writing staff of the HBO drama series 'The Wire'.
