Greece opens Acropolis museum
Updated on 20 June 2009
Athens' new Acropolis museum finally opens today and the Greek culture minister says he hopes it will be a catalyst for the UK to hand the Parthenon sculptures back. Andrew Thomas reports.

The museum opened after years of delays and more than £100m, with a glitzy ceremony attended by guests from around the world. But Britain was conspicuous by its absence.
The vast glass and concrete structure houses treasures from the golden age of ancient Greece, but not the Elgin marbles, which have been in London since 1817.
