Freud's bid to save Titian works

Updated on 28 October 2008

By Nicholas Glass

In a rare interview, artist Lucian Freud tells Nicholas Glass why he has joined the campaign to keep two Titian paintings on public display in Britain.

Lucian Freud is one of the world's greatest living artists - and one of the most camera-shy. He has not been interviewed on television, to our knowledge, for 20 years. But he has talked to Channel 4 News.

Freud has long admired the Venetian master Titian, and has joined a campaign to save two of his masterpieces, which are on sale for £100m, for public display in the UK.
