Television star Kris Marshall is recovering from head injuries after being hit by a car.

The comedian was on a night out in Bristol city centre on Saturday when the accident happened.

The 35-year-old was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary where a scan revealed his head injuries were not life-threatening.

Marshall's spokeswoman said: "I can confirm that Kris Marshall was involved in an accident in Bristol on Saturday night and sustained a head injury.

"He is currently in a stable condition in hospital and is expected to be discharged within the next couple of days."

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said: "There was a collision between a car and pedestrian shortly before 1am on Sunday.

"It happened in St Augustine's Parade in Bristol City Centre. A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with head injuries not considered to be life-threatening."

The actor was out drinking with friends when the accident happened, according to reports.

Marshall became famous for his role in the comedy sitcom My Family. He has starred in Britflick Love Actually, ITV estate agent comedy Sold and is also known for playing the boyfriend in the current BT adverts.

He was crowned Best Comedy Newcomer six years ago at the British Comedy Awards.
