Father dies after confronting youths

The daughter of a man beaten to death after a confrontation with youths had described him as "the best dad anyone can wish for".
Garry Newlove's twelve year old daughter Amy wrote to him as he lay in hospital.
Today their family released the letter, in one part she wrote;
I can't get across to you how much I will miss you and I don't know what I would do without you. You have always been there for me when I am down and you always put a smile on my face (even if it is a rubbish joke).
I love you with all my heart so please don't give in. We are all taking care of you and mummy. We will deeply miss you and I want you to know you are the best dad anyone can ask for.

But her dad never recovered. Garry Newlove died at Warrington Hospital on Sunday afternoon.
The attack took place on Friday night after Mr Newlove remonstrated with youths who had damaged his car and a nearby mechanical digger.
Police arrested nine youths after the attack. Six of them, aged between 15 and 19, remain in custody.
