Updated on 24 June 2007
A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death during a street fight between two gangs in Beckenham.
The teenager's death followed a spate of murders in London over the weekend which included the shooting of a 17-year-old girl at a bar in north London in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police have named the girl, who later died in hospital, as Annaka Keniesha Pinto.
The weekend also saw the murders of a man in his 20s, who was shot dead in the street in Acton, west London, and a man stabbed at a nightclub in Kingston.
Nine people have been arrested in connection with the stabbing in Beckenham, Scotland Yard said.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at 23.26 on Saturday June 23 to reports of a fight in the street, now believed to have been between two 'gangs' in Southend Road, Beckenham."
He added: "Upon arrival, officers found a white male, believed aged 16 years, suffering serious injuries, which we believe may have been as the result of stabbing."
The spokesman said officers believed they knew the identity of the dead youth but would not release his name until all next of kin had been informed.
