Amber Peat parents make plea for missing teenager

The parents of teenager Amber Peat, who went missing in Mansfield on Saturday, make an emotional plea for her to get in touch.

Amber Peat, 13, was last seen at home in Mansfield in Nottinghamshire at 5.30pm. Officers are carrying out searches in the Mansfield area and believe there is a good chance Amber has not gone further afield.

The teenager is described as white with long, dark brown hair. She is around 4ft tall and of a petite build with brown eyes and a tiny scar above her lip. She was last seen wearing a black Puma zip-up top, purple trainers and blue jeans.

‘Brilliant holiday’

At a press conference on Tuesday, Amber’s mother, Kelly, and stepfather, Danny, said the family had returned from a holiday in Cornwall on Friday.

Mr Peat said: “We had just all had a brilliant holiday. It’s just not right. She had a fantastic time, never stopped laughing with all of us together.”

Kelly Peat said “nothing else happened” that would lead to Amber leaving, apart from a disagreement over chores. She added: “If you’re watching this, or if anybody knows where she is, just send her home please.”

‘Totally out of character’

Police said the search has been focused in an area within a one-kilometre radius of the family home.

Superintendent Matt McFarlane, of Nottinghamshire Police, said Amber’s disappearance was “totally out of character”. He went on:”There had been a minor argument about chores and Amber left the house. She hasn’t been seen since.”

He added: “We are seriously concerned about her whereabouts. The request we make is: Amber, if you hear this, please come home.”

Mr McFarlane also dismissed rumours that Amber’s disappearance had anything to do with a social media challenge called the Game of 72 – where teenagers are urged to go missing for 72 hours.
