Biography

Jonathan Rugman is diplomatic correspondent for Channel 4 News.

His varied beat includes foreign policy, Iran, Iraq, Europe and the Middle East.

As Washington correspondent he covered US Presidential and mid-term elections and Hurricane Katrina, along with films from Venezuela, Bolivia and Mexico.

He joined the programme in 1999 as business correspondent, and in 2003 went on to become our Washington correspondent until 2006.

In 2006 his reports on global warming from California and the Canadian Arctic won the News category of the British Environment Media Awards.

He has reported for the programme from 15 countries, his reports winning six broadcasting awards.

Prior to joining Channel 4 News, Jonathan was an investigative reporter on BBC Radio 4's File on 4 and prior to that a correspondent based in Turkey for The Guardian, The Observer and BBC World Service.
