Out This Week

27/08/2007

Kanye was strong enough to hold on to the top spot for a second week on Sunday - and his shades are a bit less ridiculous now that it's actually sunny - but let's see who the challengers are this week...

Siouxsie 'Into A Swan' (Universal)
Did we ever tell you about the time we went to kiss Siouxsie Sioux on the cheek and accidentally headbutted her in the shoulder? Maybe we'll save it for another occasion. An incredible 31 years after the Banshees formed for the infamous 100 Club Punk Festival, one of the most important and influential women in music finally releases a solo record. And... it's pretty thrilling. Unmistakably Siouxsie (being unmistakable is, after all, what she's spent a career doing) but nonetheless contemporary, 'Into A Swan' stalks along like a giant, druggy panther: bristling with danger and woozy elegance. Solo Siouxsie has style and substance: the perfect combination.
