Another week, another batch of fledgling singles are born into the big bad world of pop. So let's see if anyone's got a hope of kicking Mika off his perch, because frankly it's getting boring...

Badly Drawn Boy played in our local chippy last week. That's the sort of down-to-earth chap he is, you see. Just to prove it, he got himself turned away from the Oasis Brits after-show party the night before and spent hours outside stamping his foot and ringing his friends for back-up while Lily Allen et al strode past him. This songs sees him in his Bruce Springsteen fan mode - all twinkling piano and understated anthems. Jolly nice, but it's still not going to convince the doorman he's a superstar.
