Out This Week
14/05/2007
Yep, it's pissing it down again, but that didn't stop another batch of records making it to the shelves. So which of this week's deluge had us singing in the rain and which had us running for cover...
Maroon 5 'Makes Me Wonder' (Octone)
Clean-cut Californian pop-funk doesn't come in a sunnier form than Maroon 5 and while this, the first single from their sophomore album - 'It Won't Be Soon Before Long' (eh?) - may be all about farewells, it still makes you want to throw your head back and do the frug agogo with gay abandon [Who? – Ed]. Classic Maroon 5 then, and if it ain't broke... Some may sniff that the boundaries aren't exactly being pushed here, but it's got that Maroon 5 magic, and fans will not be disappointed. This is pop with heart, and very nice it is too.

Mutya 'Real Girl'
Former Sugababe delivers a musical two-fingered salute.
The Cribs 'Men's Needs'
The video to this song was so raunchy it got banned.
Biffy Clyro 'Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies'
The Scottish rockers have gone all Flash Gordon on us.
Remi Nicole 'Fed Up' / 'Go With The Flow'
Where does she come on a scale of Kate Nash to Lily Allen?
Voxtrot 'Blood Red Blood'
Are indie guitars and orchestration a bit passé yet?
The Stills 'Destroyer'
It's actually much better than its ominous title suggests.
Wiley '50/50' / Bow E3'
The East London grime merchant makes us want to lie down, in a good way.
The Mitchell Brothers 'Sole Mate'
Mike Skinner's pals have fallen in love with, err, their daps.
Adjagas 'Lihkolas'
They may be 'yoik', but these Norwegians still make beautiful music...
