Out This Week
03/09/2007
So 'Big Brother' is over for another year and you suddenly have an extra eight hours in your week. Why not make a start at filling this new expanse of free time by perusing this week's offering of singles...
The Rumble Strips 'Girls And Boys In Love' (Island)
Standing behind The Fratellis in the queue for indie anthem success are Devonshire four piece The Rumble Strips. We first paid attention to The Strips because we'd heard them compared with Dexys Midnight Runners, though they actually sound more like the less-vibrant Dexys spin-off group The Blue Ox Babes (and if you've heard of them then we know you by name and have probably been to your house for tea). Anyway, what we're saying is that The Rumble Strips are not as good as Dexys Midnight Runners, but then who is? They are, however, much better than The Fratellis, though they sound nothing like them. And here we see the problem with comparisons.
