Out This Week
03/09/2007
So 'Big Brother' is over for another year and you suddenly have an extra eight hours in your week. Why not make a start at filling this new expanse of free time by perusing this week's offering of singles...
Example 'So Many Roads' (The Beats)
We had lunch with Example the other day. We recorded the results and they'll be available to hear on 4Music very soon. He's a funny man. Can he spit bars, though? We're not sure. The re-sung sample of The Carpenters' 'Only Just Begun' is terrific. The beats, while basic, have our head nodding appreciatively. But Example's emcee style - not completely dissimilar to UK veteran Skinnyman - doesn't quite grab our attention. Far better is B-side 'Take What I Want' with an inventively-funky and loping tale of sexual frustrations.
