Dubplate stars give their advice...

We know times can be hard for aspiring MCs out there and sometimes it can feel like it's just rejection, rejection, rejection. But don't hang up those MC boots just yet! For every door that slams in your face, another one opens.
And lo! - here is once such doorway, a doorway of advice from the stars of Dubplate Drama.
We're kind like that you see.
Shystie aka Dionne/MC Pressure says...
"I would just say that you need persistence because music takes a lot of time. People see our videos on TV and think, 'Oh God I just want to get into that and do a video,' but it's not that easy. You've got to have persistence, don't give up."
"Promote yourself. Use MySpace, it's the best tool. Make CDs, hand out fliers and keep going, keep going, keep going! I just tell people that if I can do it, you can do it because I'm just a normal girl from around London and if I can do it, so can you. Keep at it and good luck!"
Luke Hyams, director and writer of Dubplate Drama says...
"The very best piece of advice that I could give to anyone, and I've proved it to be the piece of advice that works, is perseverance.
"If you've got something you want to do stick with it and keep plugging at it. No matter how many people keep closing doors in your face and tell you it's wrong, keep going. Learn from what they say but keep pushing forward."
Simon Webbe, singer and manager of Hoodman says...
"My advice for everyone out there is to master your art. Read books. Get to know your business. Read business management books. See how you're supposed to be managed. Then get a business plan.
"You can be the best rapper in the world, sitting on your arse thinking you're the best and no one's going to know who you are, so you're not the best. So get out there. Get on your MySpace, Facebook pages.
"Get your music on CD. There are loads of places that will print out CDs for you. You get 500 CDs, it costs £500, but if you sell those 500 CDs at £10 each, it's £5,000. So there you go."
TJ Jembere aka Minus says...
"The only thing you can do is do your best. Be you when you're MCing. Be you and don't try to be Anybody else because you can only be you when you're MCing.
"Don't look up to anyone, create your own path, create your own life. Keep writing songs and writing lyrics but not just bars."
