Artist Biography
NewType is a three manned Electro-Rock vessel.

The name is from a Japanese anime/manga TV series called MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM - it's got giant robots in it - which we like.

We play mostly around the midlands at the moment; Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, Coventry, Birmingham etc but we will be expanding our horizons further along the four points of the earth's compass and then the entire galaxy. Mars would be nice to play we think - or the moon. We love the moon - even though he's a simpleton.

Though we each have discerning and diverse tastes our primary shared influences are:

The Cure, Quicksand, Depeche Mode, Fugazi, Gary Numan, Kyuss (and Queens Of The Stone Age), Big Black (and Shellac), Failure, Joy Division, Tool, Wire, Back Flag, Killing Joke, ZZ Top, Tom Waits, Ministry, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, The Misfits, Soundgarden, Iggy Pop, Afghan Whigs, David Bowie, Mr. Bungle, Prong, Girls Against Boys, Clutch, Helmet.

NEWTYPE was assembled from the parts and survivors of notable but not widely recognised vessels NEW HOLE IN HER HEAD, SUMP and BURNING QUESTION in AD 2003.

Originally we had a six man team of experts in noise generation, Of the original six crew members that remained were NewType's two founders and brothers AARAN & CRAIG. After a short period as a duo we were eventually able to expand our personnel to a stable three man unit with the addition of low frequency specialist PETE after rescuing him from the smoking wreckage of our sadly missed sister vessel BEG TO DIFFER.

Now with a fully functional compliment of personnel we continue with our mission in exploring our futures now, documenting and recording our findings and distributing them throughout the ether for past and future generations to decipher.
