Artist Biography
"Like all good lovers, The Moot keep their promises and this is a fully-realised vision: charming, disarming and oddly poignant, with a masterful understanding of mood so it stays fresh throughout&this reviewer stumbles off now, punch-drunk, thunderstruck and hopelessly in love." Jay Lawrance, Sandman Magazine " a very, very good band " Alan Raw, BBC Raw Talent Show " the band's clear ear for a simple uplifting pop ditty shines through...a good producer could easily turn this into the sound of the summer." Richard Garnett, Leeds Music Scene " their songs are immediately recognisable and catchy enough to kick around in your headspace long after the tracks finished playing. " Andrew Burden, Glasswerk "If reggae is your thing then The Moot cannot help but impress." Simon Butler, efestivals.com "'The Way It Is' its got a lovely little groove and bounce to it and quite frankly it wont leave my head. If you enjoy a good laid back beat and are looking for something a bit different go for Moot." John Siwicki, Comfort Comes The Moot are a two piece female band from Huddersfield in the UK who play an original blend of reggae, funk, rock and jamming that is guaranteed to make people move. The line up is Clare (electric guitar and vocals) and Eryl (Drums). The band formed initially playing acoustic music in Galloway, Scotland in 2004. After 12 months the band played their first gig with electric guitar and drums at the Bladnoch Distillery in Scotland August 2005, This was a success and they moved back down to Huddersfield to focus on their music. Since arriving in September 2005 The Moot have played over 60 gigs around the North of England including the Wimfest at the Barfly in Liverpool, the Blue Cat Cafe in Stockport and Bar 120 in Huddersfield. In September 2006 they played to a packed tent at the Thimbleberry Music Festival in County Durham. "Snuggle Up" was played on the BBC Raw Talent Show the same weekend where they were described as " A Very,Very good band" by Alan Raw. The Moot supported signed French band La Cedille in October 2006 as part of the Black History week in Huddersfield. The Band were invited to play two songs Snuggle Up and Seagulls in the acoustic lounge on the BBC Raw Talent show at the end of November 2006. Snuggle up was entered into the Acoustic End of Year Polls as a result. They also played on the temporary Ice Rink in Huddersfield town centre on a cold winters day in December 2006. So far The Moot have written 26 songs that they play at gigs and many of them are available for free download or CD on the websites below! Around 12 cover songs are also woven into the live set, some of them being re-worked into a reggae style. Clare has been playing guitar for over ten years and her ability to play rhythm guitar whilst playing a continuous bass riff means that the band sound fantastic as a two piece. The Moot have a unique live sound that has often been compared to that of a full band. They like to keep things simple and have a clean and uncluttered sound. They are all about the music and having fun. Their aim is to go out and play their music, have lots of fun doing it and make people happy. The Moot are Moving to London at the End of May 2007 Our website is mootmusic.co.uk
