The Markus are a blues band with flavours of reggae and a hint of rock. Songs written by singer/guitarist Ben Markus reveal their best features with the family based band line-up. On bass is Ben's son-in-law Ric George, son Sean takes the guitar and daughter Melanie joins the band on vocals, the line-up is completed by Helena Phoenix on drums and Vicky Cowles on saxes, flute and occasional keybaords.
Ben Markus has been playing guitar gigs since the age of 12 . After huge success on the PYE label in the 1980's, with the album 'Nocturn Gate', a brief break followed, but the band bounced back with 'Shaggy Dog Story' and has been active ever since. Ben's distinctive voice and guitar style make his tracks instantly recognisable. |
