15/10/2007
American rapper T.I. was arrested at the weekend only hours before he was due to receive two awards.
Twenty-seven-year-old T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, was also due to perform at the BET Hip Hop ceremony when he was apprehended by Atlanta police on suspicion of buying machine guns.
Three firearms were found in his car with a further six discovered in a cupboard at his home (five of which were loaded). The star already has criminal convictions for drug dealing, gun possession and probation violations and was held in federal custody over the weekend.
The award for CD of the Year, for his US number one album 'T.I. vs. T.I.P.', was accepted on his behalf by fellow rapper Common.
In other news, rapper Foxy Brown failed to attend her arraignment, in connection with assault charges, after she refused to get on the bus to take her to Brooklyn Supreme Court because she was getting her make up done, it has been claimed.
