Steve Jones loves England hero Kenny Rogers!
17/10/2007
Despite being at the forefront of youth TV and a Welshman, T4's Steve Jones has revealed he's a big fan of country star Kenny Rogers, who is set to enter the charts this Sunday after his song 'The Gambler' was adopted by the England rugby squad.
The presenter, who is travelling the country with Lauren Laverne recording 'Transmission with T-Mobile', told us - before Kenny became England's musical mascot - that he'd much rather have the silver-haired crooner, famous for his 'Islands In The Stream' duet with Dolly Parton, on the show than the current crop of indie upstarts.
So it will no doubt come as a double blow for Jones this weekend if he has to endure his musical hero singing as the old enemy England storm to victory against South Africa in the Rugby World Cup Final. We wonder if he'll changed his mind now!
"I have quite weird musical tastes. I like everything from Kenny Rogers to new rap artists on the scene. It's good to be diverse," said Steve exclusively to 4Music.
"Lauren is the all-seeing and all-knowing person when it comes to music but if it was up to me, we'd have Kenny Rogers on the show every week!"
