Muse stripped of hometown honour
09/11/2007
Council officials in Muse's hometown in Devon were left red faced after belatedly realising that a 'Home Of Muse' sign they had put up to honour the band might have a rude meaning.
Teignmouth town councillors were flustered to find out that their prodigal sons' band name is an acroynym for Medicated Urethral Suppository For Erection - a treatment for impotence - and clearly not something with which they wanted the town to be associated.
"I thought the slogan would create a fresher, younger image for the town, but now I see the Muse slogan might not send the right message," said Councillor David Cox.
The band are yet to comment on the story.
