Did Madonna dupe Gucci?

Madonna has defended herself after fashion house Gucci accused her of misleading them into supporting a Kabbalah organisation.

The 49-year-old star, who was recently hailed as a perfect mum by an adoption agency, came under fire for allegedly duping Gucci into contributing to a group run by the religious sect when they thought they were supporting a charity for Malawian orphans.

Madonna's spokeswoman has since stated that the star never intended to confuse anybody and that all funds raised from the charity event, which Gucci are co-hosting next month, would be accounted for.

"The reality is - and it's never been a secret - that the Raising Malawi organisation was co-founded by Madonna and Michael Berg, who is one of the spearheading executives of the Kabbalah organisation," said Liz Rosenberg, Madonna's spokeswoman.

"The Raising Malawi organisation is completely separate from the Kabbalah, and they are run as two separate organisations. Accountability will be very clear and very specific, and all funds will be accounted for."
