19/11/2007
Leona Lewis claimed the record for the fastest-selling British debut album in history yesterday, when 'Spirit' entered the chart at number one.
The 22-year-old X Factor winner sold 375,872 copies of her album in the last seven days, beating the Arctic Monkeys' previous record by 12,000.
Leona's feat also put her fourth in the list of fastest-selling British albums of all time, behind Oasis's 'Be Here Now', Coldplay's 'X&Y' and Dido's 'Life For Rent'.
Spice Girls entered the chart at number two with their 'Greatest Hits', while Led Zeppelin and Celine Dion also had Top Five new entries.
In the singles chart, Leona held on for a fourth week at the top with 'Bleeding Love', while Take That and Timbaland stayed at numbers two and three and Kylie rose eight places to number four with her comeback single '2 Hearts'.
Bloc Party had the highest new entry with 'Flux' at number eight.
