Led Zeppelin's pre-gig vomit

11/12/2007

Led Zeppelin re-formed last night for their first gig in nearly two decades and although fans and critics hailed it as a triumph, it was nearly too much for stand in drummer Jason Bonham.

Bonham, who took the place of his late father John for the O2 Arena show, was reportedly struck by an attack of nerves before the show and was nearly sick but struggled on for the 20,000 strong crowd, many of whom had queued overnight to secure good positions.

The legendary band played for two hours at the concert, a tribute to late Atlantic records founder Ahmet Ertegun which also featured performances from Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini.

One fan told the NME: "It was awesome. It couldn't have been better. I would have paid double, triple, even. They looked great. They know music."
