Celine Dion hits out at media over suicide claim

Celine Dion has revealed that she was devastated when false media reports forced her to call her mother to tell her she had not killed herself.

Speaking to the Guardian, the 39-year-old singer, who recently cancelled a gig because she claimed the town's media gave her a bad review, said the unfounded reports had led to unnecessary pain and anguish for her family.

"It was written that I had committed suicide, that I was dead. I had to ring my mother to say, 'I am not dead.' I was freaking out," she said.

"Imagine, my whole family were freaking out. I don't even know where that came from."
