Britney Spears loses chart race

05/11/2007

Britney Spears narrowly missed out on a triumphant return to the charts yesterday when her new album, 'Blackout', was a new entry at number two.

The troubled singer lost out to veterens the Eagles, whose 'Long Road Out Of Eden' was the highest new entry at number one.

Hoosiers dropped two places to number three with their 'The Trick To Life' LP, while there were Top Five new entries for Robert Plant & Alison Krauss and Whitney Houston.

In the singles chart, Leona Lewis held off Take That to keep 'Bleeding Love' on top for a second week, while Westlife had the highest new entry with 'Home' at number three, their cover of the Michael Bublé song.
