Amy Winehouse can't go on without Blake
28/11/2007
Amy Winehouse has cancelled the remaining dates of her UK tour after being unable to cope without the support of her jailed husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.
The 24-year-old was due to appear in Bournemouth last night and has pulled shows in Cardiff, Dublin, Manchester and London, with no signs that they will be rescheduled.
It is believed that the singer, whose performances have been the subject of intense media attention on the tour so far, has been advised to rest for the remainder of the year, reportedly in order to prepare to start work on her third album in the new year.
An official statement read: "The rigours involved in touring and the intense emotional strain that Amy has been under in recent weeks have taken their toll."
The singer gave a more personal explanation: "I can't give it my all onstage without my Blake.
"I'm so sorry but I don't want to do the shows half-heartedly; I love singing. My husband is everything to me and without him it's just not the same."
Fielder-Civil was remanded in custody earlier this month on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in an ongoing assault case.
