Reading camping areas still under water

Reading festival goers have been warned to prepare for testing conditions at this weekend's event following recent flooding.

Flooded camping areas at the festival, headlined by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Razorlight and Smashing Pumpkins, have had to be cordoned off and a new site made available after waist-high waters from last month's floods have failed to recede.

"The summer has been bloody awful," said organiser Melvin Benn on the festival's website.

"We have recovered to a large extent but not fully and a fair amount of the site is still not campable today."
