Led Zeppelin confirm reunion gig
12/09/2007
Led Zeppelin have confirmed that they are reuniting for a one-off gig in memory of the late Atlantic records founder Ahmet Ertegun with late drummer John Bonham's son Jason on drums.
Concert promoter Harvey Goldsmith has announced that the legendary rock group will play the benefit gig for the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund with Jason Bonham on the drums, a position he occupied at the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary concert in 1988.
Singer Robert Plant said that the gig would be a lasting tribute to Ahmet, who signed the band after hearing their demo.
"This performance stands alone as our tribute to the work and life of our long-standing friend."
Fans will need to register at www.ahmettribute.com where they will be entered into a ballot with names chosen at random because of the expected demand.
The concert will take place on November 26 at the O2 Arena in London and will cost an eye-watering £125 per ticket with tickets limited to two per household. Standing and seated tickets will be available.
Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and Paulo Nutini - the last British act Ahmet mentored - will all perform at the gig.
