Amy's mum: No point in telling Amy to clean up
12/09/2007
Amy Winehouse's mother has said she doesn't recognise her daughter anymore and fears she is ruining her talent.
Janis Winehouse, who is separated from Amy's father, Mitch, and handles her daughter's finances, told First magazine that she's long since stopped trying coax Amy off drugs.
"I knew she was smoking marijuana but not that she was doing class A drugs until she collapsed," said Janis.
"She won't stop until she sees the point of stopping. When I saw her after [her collapse], I did not tell her to clean up, there was no point.
"I know all about class A drugs. I understand the process where the brain shuts out everything except the drugs. Talking to her about it won't make any difference."
Meanwhile, Amy was spotted recently at the opening night of Chicago starring Kelly Osbourne.
