Pete Wentz gushes about Ashlee

Pete Wentz gushed that he loves being able to kiss his best friend - his girlfriend Ashlee Simpson.

The Fall Out Boy bassist, whose band won Best Group at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, told People magazine that being in love with his favourite chum is a great feeling and that he adores being affectionate with 23-year-old Ashlee.

"We're past the honeymoon period. The truth is, it's crazy to be able to kiss your best friend. It's just a really awesome thing," said Pete.

"People like to make it [the relationship] seem different than it is. People will say 'No one holds hands that much.' But I'm like 'Why would you not want to touch the person that you're in love with?'"
