A Brief History of Will Young

You might be familiar with Will as being the first winner of some small reality show called 'Pop Idol', but others will know him as that nice boy Will from the politics course at Exeter Uni. He only got "a Desmond" though (a 2.2), so maybe his move into music wasn't that bad an idea.

He had to wait for 2002's 'Pop Idol' to become famous. Widely dubbed as the underdog, he fought off tough competition from Gareth Gates to win the final with his moving singing of 'Evergreen' which went on to be his debut single - which sold over 400,000 copies in its first week, and became the fastest-selling in chart history. Not a bad way to start out in pop music really.

Will is three albums in now and an established star of stage and screen. His soulful pop has won so many people over that listeners to commercial radio have voted him the UK's favourite artist of all time... twice!

His new album is titled 'Let Go' and will be released on September 29 2008.
