A Brief History of The Script

One of the great success stories of 2008 must be Dublin band The Script.
Comprising Danny O'Donaghue, Mark Sheehan and Glen Power, the band formed after Danny and Mark met when they were teenagers, growing up in the tough James Street area of the city (by the Guinness factory). While their friends were listening to rock, the boys discovered American R&B, via post-midnight MTV and, like Van Morrison before them, set about creating their own brand of Celtic soul, incorporating the anthemic elements of U2 with Timbaland's inventive beats.

Incredibly, this new songwriting partnership gained almost immediate recognition in the US, and they were soon working with their heroes Teddy Riley, Dallas Austin and The Neptunes. With the discovery of multi-talented drummer Glen they began their career as a production team.

Sadly, the deaths of both Mark's mother and Danny's father brought them back to Ireland, but out of this loss came inspiration for many of the songs that would form their self-titled debut album.
