T4 on the Beach
Dizzee!
Dizzee Rascal, the people of Western Super-Mare probably know from all those awards he's always up for. The Mercury Prize is obviously very important to this audience; he gets the biggest cheer of the day. His breakdancers, who he wheels out for new track 'Old School', are a bit amazing. Everyone loves him, but it's just a shame no one ever buys his records. He doesn’t look too sad about it though, so don't cry or lose any sleep over this.

Remi Nicole!
No one buys Remi Nicole records either, but that is because Remi Nicole is new and hasn't released much yet. When we saw her a few weeks ago we were sure that 'Go Mr Sunshine' was a surefire hit. Hearing her sing it on the 4music stage in the sun, we can confirm that we were right to feel this way. An amazing summer anthem which just needs Rihanna to stop casting her big wet shadow over the charts before its time comes.

Girls Aloud
Everyone likes Girls Aloud. That is a fact. People who don't are wrong and that is a fact too. A lukewarm reaction to Sophie Ellis-Bextor might have indicated a lack of patience for pop acts in the stereotypical sense, but despite Glyn from 'Big Brother' leaping around the runway like a chimp on pins, Girls Aloud get the warmest reaction so far – and not just because the sun is burning people. New track 'Sexy! No, No No' takes most people by surprise, but then we think that is the point. They're on safer ground with 'Something Kinda Oooh', 'Love Machine' and 'Biology', the latter giving Nadine yet another chance to prove how amazing she is at singing. Like for McFly, the general positive feeling for Girls Aloud comes from the fact that they love every minute of their work and each of the five seem to love being a member of Girls Aloud.

Amerie!
We know of One Thing (ahem) that will rouse the slumpy crowd after their lunch and that One Thing (ahem, ahem) is Amerie! Praise be that she's here then because she palpably warms the stage as she bounces around doing air guitar with her throng of hot-panted hotties to 'Gotta Work It'. And boy does she work it. 'Take Control' continues in the same brassy vein and even though she doesn't sing '1 Thing', we still feel content.

For someone who is wearing bright green jeans, white braces and is singing about plump ladies, Mika certainly draws more cheers than one might expect. Maybe it's because he's opened with soon-to-be-smash 'Big Girls (You Are Beautiful)'. Or maybe it's because he's enlisted the help of that corseted lady from his video and a host of super furry animals to jump around the stage with him. Or maybe it's because he's ruddy good and the closest thing we've had to a real pop star all day. We'll let you decide on that one.

Ronson!
The one thing lacking from today, we've been thinking, is a trumpet or two. So thank the heavens that we've got Mark Ronson on the 4music stage to redress the balance. Do you want things a bit funky? Fancy a bit of jazz? Well Ronson's your man. Trying to be helpful, he introduces Daniel Merriweather and Alex Greenwald as his vocalists for the day. The thought is appreciated but all this means is that neither Lily Allen nor Amy Winehouse is going to be making an appearance. Still, both are amazing in their on right - Greenwald stepping up for 'Just' and his Phantom Planet hit 'California', while Merriweather does his duty on the Top Ten hit 'Stop Me'. Short, sharp and to the point, Ronson is every bit as funky as you might imagine. We just hope he has washed that white shirt. We've never seen him wear anything else...

In more summery clothes than usual are Leeds' very own Kaiser Chiefs are a very good band to have a sing-song to after a dazzling day of pop. In particular, 'Oh My God', which is dedicated to Lily Allen who's has covered the song with Mark Ronson, and 'Everything Is Average Nowadays' bring out the karaoke kings and queens in all in the crowd. 'We Are The Angry Mob' seems an unlikely song for the Kaisers to play as they and everyone else here is positively mellow and happy but job well done anyway.
