Highlights included The Ting Tings who blasted through 'Great DJ', 'Shut Up And Let Me Go' and a version of former number one 'That's Not My Name' which the crowd screamed along to. Meanwhile Alphabeat bounced through a fun version of 'Fascination' (we sang the 'Woah-Oh!' bits as loudly as we could) while Robyn kept the Scando-pop levels high with an unshakeable 'With Every Heartbeat'. Welsh superstar Duffy delivered slinky selection of hits including 'Mercy' and a blubsome 'Warwick Avenue' and rockers Feeder raced through an air punching version of 'Buck Rogers'.
Weston was also graced by the presence of super model Agyness Deyn who donned her rock and roll star hat to join indie rockers The Five O'Clock Heroes to perform their single 'Skin Deep'. The indie flag continued to fly high when Dirty Pretty Things played a great version of 'Deadwood'. Meanwhile T4 On The Beach veterans McFly played a jubilant set against the projection of a huge British flag, the highlight of which was new single 'One For The Radio'. We felt like starting a riot, afterwards. But we had an ice-cream instead. McFly were only rivaled in the pop punk greatness stakes by Scouting For Girls, whose 'She's So Lovely' was an irresistible stormer of the day.
We were in the presence of R 'n' B royalty when, US superstar Ne-Yo turned up, flanked up by some amazing dancers for a great set including a hyped up version of 'Closer' which proved to be one of the biggest singalongs of the day. Meanwhile, Sam Sparro battled Basshunter in The Craziest Outfit competition. The soulful 'Black And Gold' hitmaker wore a crazy, tie-dye, cyber punk ensemble while the dancers of the 'Now You're Gone' singer were dressed like beach dwellers from space. We think Sam Sparro may have just nailed it though by wont of a bejeweled glove.
This was headliner Kelly Rowland's largest UK show to date and she performed like a trooper. The Nicest Woman In Pop looked stunning as she ran through her greatest solo hits. As well as 'Work' she played a snatch of her duet with Nelly 'Dilemma'. But it was when she stormed through a medley of Destiny's Child hits that she had the crowd, um, 'Jumpin' Jumpin'( well she didn't play that one but you know what we mean).
"Can I take y'all back for a second?" she hollered before hitting us with 'Say My Name' , 'Independent Women (Part 1)',' Bootylicious' and 'Survivor'. Amazing eh?
So another great T4 On The Beach. Can we get tickets for 2009 yet?
