A Brief History of The Ting Tings

Despite The Ting Tings youthful vigour, Manchester's Katie White and East Londoner Jules De Martino have been in the music industry for some time. 4music were particularly fond of their former band Dear Eskimo but it seems not enough of you paid attention and they were reborn as The Ting Tings, performing at 2007's Glastonbury festival, after which they were snapped up by Columbia records.

Coming third in the prestigious 'Sound of 2008' poll, their first single for the label was the raw pop groove of 'Great DJ'. But it was the super-catchy, cheerleader chant of 'That's Not My Name' (written about Katie's experiences in the male dominated music industry) that propelled The Ting Tings to the number one spot. Their debut album 'We Started Nothing' repeated this success, while over in the US, the disco-tastic track 'Shut Up And Let Me Go' invaded the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, after it was chosen to soundtrack the iPod adverts.

This has been an amazing year for The Ting Tings, and they've only just begun.
