Hello Josh out of the The Subways!
Hello, Slashmusic!
So, 'The OC'. What happened there then?
Well, our manager called us and told us we’d be on 'The OC', and I thought, ‘Cool, we’re going to get a tune on the soundtrack!’ but then he told us that we were actually going to be on 'The OC', playing live! Two weeks later, we were in LA playing 'Rock ‘n’ Roll Queen' in the Bait Shop!
Did they like you or was it a bit embarassing?
No! they loved us! The crowd went nuts and had to be told to calm down by the director because they were clapping and cheering so much!
Did you get on with the cast?
Yeah, they were so friendly, we hung out with them and ate Chinese food with them.
Did they savour the taste of your deep fried balls?
I’m sure they did, most people do.
Talk us through the plot twists...
Well, I think one of the girls is upset, so her friend decides to cheer her up by taking her out to see The Subways.
It would work for us!
Of course! Anyway, when they’re at the gig, a scrap happens. One of the guys gets into a fight with a person who’s being horrible to a girl or something. I’ve seen it, it looks great.
Sounds it. Did you do any acting?
No, I wish we had! That would have been great! I should have asked.
Don't actors have to be 'on set' at, like, 4am?
No, it was all right actually. We had a good time. We got shown around the set and saw the house where they live, and the swimming pool. We went in the swimming pool – it’s about one foot deep! A fake swimming pool! They were incredibly efficient, it was all planned out before we got there, they know exactly what’s going to be done, all the camera settings and everything.
You're huge stars now, right?
Well, it happened to The Killers, but you can’t expect anything. It’d be dreadful to get too big on the first album, I hope it goes easy. We’re already doing pretty well in America. It’s exciting and the appearance on 'The OC' has made a huge impact. Fourteen million people watch it! We get recognised in the street!
Amazing! Anyway, this is the bit where you get to bang on about what you're up to for the rest of the year.
Oh great! OK, well, we’re touring America for a month, doing the small dirty venues. I can’t wait! Then we come back to the UK and tour in April, then we’ll be doing the festivals in the summer. The plan is for non-stop touring in Europe and America, touring before people know our album’s out. Oh, and we’re doing the David Letterman Show, too.
You see, that's not going to help you take it slowly, is it?
Maybe not.
Rolling Stone magazine said something like you could have the Arctic Monkeys in a fight. Actually, we might have misread that. But is it true?
I don't remember reading that. But The Arctic Monkeys are fantastic. Although I’ve never met them.
You will this summer, so, quick, say something nice!
They'll be headlining the main stage and we’ll be in a little tent somewhere out the way!
Thank you, Josh out of The Subways!
No Slashmusic, thank you!
