Mattafix
A pleasant chat

Mattafix: they got their name from the Caribbean phrase meaning everything's been sorted out ('Matter fixed!'); they're called Marlon and Preetesh (interestingly, that's the first time either name has been attached to a pop star, apart from Marlon Jackson and, ahem, 80s SAW stars Marlon Kim) and they make walloping great pop songs that draw on soul, hip hop, reggae and stuff.

Their last single, 'Big City Life', was a massive hit. Their new one, 'Passer By', looks like it'll be even more biggerer than what that was.

Hoo-rah!

Hello Marlon from Mattafix!
Hello Slashmusic!

Are you, y'know, all right?
I'm very well, thank you. Though I am in the hospital.

Oh. Why?
My friend fell out of a window. I'm here visiting.

Oh blimey. Well, we're sorry to hear that. But, to business. Marlon, what’s your favourite smell?
Wow! Well, all I can smell at the moment is Dettol. But the smell I most like would have to be the Ylang Ylang tree (botanic name: Cananga Odorata, Caribbean fauna fans) outside my parents house in St Vincent. It makes this amazing smell in the morning and in the evening. Beautiful!

Hooray! Do you have any recurring dreams?
Falling is a big one. Falling from planes, buildings, mountains. I always wake up with a big start and a scream at the point of impact. Very, very nasty.

Sounds it. So, have you ever found anything good in a hedge?
No.

Nothing?
No, in fact I feel a bit cheated!

So you should. What's the most revolting thing you’ve ever put in your mouth?
I once put some powdered drain cleaner all over my rice and peas one night. I thought it was salt and gobbled it all up. It burnt my mouth up really bad, as you might imagine.

Revolting. Tell us, where’s the weirdest place you’ve ever vomited?
Probably on the Eurostar. I ate some really bad sushi. I made it to the loo, but they have these touch sensitive hand dryers and as I walked away they came on and blew the sick all over me and into my hair and everything. It was horrible.

Groo! Finally, have you ever killed anything bigger than a mouse?
Yeah! Loads of things. Chickens, goats, sheep... I grew up on a farm, so I used to kill and skin quite a few animals. And we'd always have a Christmas goat, lovely!

That is lovely. Thanks Marlon!
No, thank you Slashmusic!
