NEW ENTRIES ON MONDAY AUGUST 8:
39. Only seven new entries this week. What have you lot all been doing instead of buying singles? No, don't answer that. It might be something rude that you should not tell me.
But a lot of you did buy Morning Runner's song 'Gone Up In Flames'. Well done you, and well done them. If you do not know Morning Runner, they are like Coldplay but fast.
31. I am in two minds as to whether to mention the Kaiser Chiefs being back in the chart with 'I Predict A Riot', not because they aren't one of the best indie groups around at the moment (because they are), but because this song has definitely been in the charts before and they don't seem to have changed it. Still, it is a good opportunity for anyone who missed it last time around because they were on holiday or ill or some other reason.

28. It is a good week for indie groups. Here is another. 'Work Work Work (Pub Club Sleep)' by The Rakes is at number 28. Who are The Rakes? Well, if you remember Britpop then The Rakes are quite like the cockney group Blur were then. And the Blur comparisons don't stop there, as there are four members of The Rakes - just like Blur (before one of them left). But they are good in their own right.

21. Lemar has another amazing hit on his hands with 'Don't Give Up'. Lemar is certainly someone who don't give up, if you excuse my bad grammar. He could have given up a long time ago when no one liked his music, or when he was not a winner on Fame Academy, but he didn't. We should all take a leaf out of his book, I think. Don't give up (unless what you are doing is wrong like terrorism).

8. One of the things I like best about the charts is it is truly international and not racist. The Game is from America yet he can still have a big hit in this country with 'Dreams', which must be a dream come true, for him. In the song he mentions lots of rappers who have died. I was quite shocked to learn that there were so many. Something should be done about that but I bet the government do not listen.

6. Texas have been around for as long as I can remember but have still not ever released a record I do not like. 'Getaway' is no exception as I like it very much. I even heard my sister singing it in the shower the other day and I was laughing at her because when it comes to singing she is no Sharleen Spiteri (who is the singer in Texas). Ha ha!

4. Singer Ciara and rapper Ludacris are no strangers to the chart because they have both been in it before, but on their own. Now they have joined up and made a very good record just called 'Oh'. The real name of Ludacris is Chris Bridges which is almost the same name of a boy I knew once. I do not know Ciara's real name.
Thought Of The Week
A few weeks ago, I wrote that it must have been a thrill for Sir Elton John to meet his hero
Tupac Shakur and record their single 'Ghetto Gospel'. I have now learned that Tupac (or 2Pac) has died. This is very sad and my thoughts go out to Elton John and his friend David Furnish and to anyone who knew Tupac or was a fan of his music. I cannot imagine the chart without a record by Tupac in it so let us hope that there are one or two recordings left that he has not released yet and maybe they could be released as a special tribute (but only if they are good enough). I am sure he is rapping in heaven.
Till next week's chart,
Bye!
