Alexei Sayle

Alexei Sayle is a comedian, actor, producer and writer best known for his role as various Balowski family members in the classic 1980’s UK TV comedy The Young Ones.

He has written for the Observer, Independent, Time Out, Car Magazine and Esquire and has appeared in numerous films including Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Gorky Park.

When the Comedy Store opened in London in 1979, he responded to an advert for 'would-be comedians' and became its first compere. Overnight he knocked Britain's comedy establishment sideways.

Sayle had hit singles in the 1980s with 'Ullo John! Gotta New Motor? and Didn't You Kill My Brother?
He has written two short story collections, Barcelona Plates and The Dog Catcher and a novel, Overtaken.
