Geneticist at University College, London. Has written popular science books including The Language of the Genes and Y: The Descent of Men. Has spent many years studying snail genetics, and now presents a science series on Teachers’ TV.

Director of Friends of the Earth, Naturalist and Ornithologist with 20 years experience in environmental work. Has particular interest in the activities of transnational corporations.
