Tony Blair's legacy

Research carried out earlier this year (2007) reveals that Tony Blair time as Prime Minister will be best remembered for his decision to go to war with Iraq.

More4 polled over 5,000 UK adults to mark the transmission of the satirical drama The Trial of Tony Blair (More4 January 2007).

What is Blair's legacy?

73% voted Blair's decision to send British troops into Iraq as the way his nine ministerial years in charge should be recorded in the history books.

43% of Britons would like to see Tony Blair join infamous leaders such as ex-Yugoslav leader Slobadan Milosovic and ex-Iraqi President Saddam Hussein by standing trial for war crimes.

Only 27% of those questioned thought Blair's three terms as Prime Minister warranted a different legacy. His efforts to bring peace to Northern Ireland (9%) and introducing civil partnerships (6%) came second and third in the poll. Results at a glance on P2
