Sarah Paulson plays Harriet Hayes, the most gifted member of the cast of the show-within-a-show "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and an ex-girlfriend of the programme's new executive producer.

Paulson made her film debut in Levitation. Her other film credits include Mary Harron's The Notorious Bettie Page; Down with Love, with Renee Zellweger, Ewan McGregor and David Hyde Pierce; What Women Want, opposite Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt; and The Other Sister.

Paulson's major TV credits include the lead role on the drama Leap of Faith; the role of Chief Deputy District Attorney Lisa Patterson in The D.A.; Deadwood; Jack and Jill; the telefilms The Long Way Home, opposite Jack Lemmon, and Shaughnessy; the series American Gothic, with Gary Cole; and the two-part special Cracker.
